Explore Midtown area of Sacramento

Midtown Sacramento is a historic district, located east of downtown Sacramento, commonly referred to as Midtown. Midtown Sacramento is known for being the most modern, and up to date district in California’s capital. Sacramento’s art galleries and local live music are some of the reasons why the district is rapidly gaining popularity. Every second Saturday of the month, Midtown businesses, and art shops open their doors from 6 - 9 pm for a massive arthop, and in the summers, street vendors and performers roll into town to entertain the public.
In the heart of Midtown, Sutter’s Fort is the place to visit. Set in the era of 1846, Sutter’s fort holds the historic value, and history of early immigrants who first settled in California. Sutter’s Fort is filled with historic buildings with work craft, such as a carpenter shop, a gunsmith, a blacksmith, a distillery, and much more. It is open daily from 10 a.m to 5 p.m and closed on Christmas day, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s day. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for ages 5 to 17, and children under 5 are free.
There are many restaurants to enjoy in Midtown, such as Zocalo the Mexican Kitchen and Cantina, with ambiance, great food, and excellent service. The Waterboy is another popular choice with stylish Italian food, inspired from Northern Italy and Southern France, with a seasonal menu that will broaden your palate. Another highly recommended place of interest is Mulvaney's B&L. Mulvaney’s is all about going green. They have an excellent farm to table service, and new daily menu, which changes and goes along with the local crop seasons.
Street art is also popular around Midtown. There are many murals painted all around the city, and some of the locals have even made maps of all of the street art. As of July 17, 2017, there are over 686 marked murals around the city, and even more to come.
